Join Austin Energy at Earth Day ATX to learn how to save energy and experience electric transportation

Austin Energy joins several organizations Saturday, April 13 from 12-6 p.m. at Huston-Tillotson University for Earth Day ATX 2019. Organized by Earth Day Austin, the event is the largest sustainability event in Central Texas, offering family-friendly activities, live music, opportunities to connect with sustainability leaders and to learn how to live a more sustainable life.

Attendees can visit Austin Energy’s booths to learn ways to save energy and money with various programs like Power Partner Thermostat, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR and Weatherization Assistance. The utility will also provide information about the outage map and outage alerts, Austin Energy’s web app, solar energy, GreenChoice wind energy, Austin Energy Green Building and electric vehicles.

Austin Energy’s Electric Vehicle team worked with event organizers to develop a special Mobility Ecosystem for Earth Day ATX, where people can connect with the full spectrum of transportation choices featuring electric vehicles, e-scooters, e-bikes, bikes, ride sharing and more. Demonstrations will be conducted for e-bikes, e-scooters and bikes. Workshops on new mobility will be offered throughout the day. StEVie, the EV-loving T-Rex, will make appearances during the day and be available for photos. Visitors can demo EV charging and try a hands-on virtual reality EV experience.

Other Mobility Ecosystem participants include Austin B-Cycle, Austin Yellow Bike Project, AutoNation, Bird, Jump, Lyft, Ryde and Z-Bikez. Ten cars will be on display, including Austin Energy’s Bolt, Volt, CMax, BMW, three Tesla models, Leaf, and the Back to the Future car.
