More than 1,600 Central Texas students shined at the 2022 Austin Energy Regional Science Festival in February, with winning Junior/Senior Division projects advancing to the Texas Science and Engineering Fair this month at Texas A&M University. This year brought the Virtual Exhibit Hall where you could view projects from all three divisions:

Six projects (seven students) were also selected to advance directly to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in May. The top three finishers in each category advanced to the Texas Science and Engineering Fair that’s already underway in College Station.

The Austin Energy Regional Science Festival is one of Texas’ largest regional science fairs with almost 3,000 students from 3rd through 12th grade every in non-pandemic years. It encourages and rewards innovative student research and provides scientists, engineers and other professionals a chance to volunteer in the community.

Austin Energy has sponsored Science Fest for more than two decades and became its title sponsor in 2003. Several area companies helped sponsor this year’s Austin Energy Regional Science Festival, including Dell Technologies, Synopsys and 3M.
