Leadership Associate Program

The Leadership Associate Program offers career opportunities for recent college graduates in engineering, information technology, business, and science disciplines. The program includes a paid, full-time, two-year employment opportunity. Our goal is to help future leaders launch a career in our thriving industry. 

This program is designed to develop future talent, who will have the knowledge and business acumen to help create a bright future for Austin Energy. We deliver clean, affordable and reliable energy and excellent customer service to the citizens of Austin. We need skilled and talented people now if we are to effectively provide for our citizens in the future. 

Program Benefits

Leadership Associates sharpen their skills through hands-on assignments, develop a solid professional network throughout the utility, and get a broad range of job exposure.

Program Details

Selected Leadership Associates serve in four six-month rotations over a two year period. They work in various areas of the business, work closely with experienced professionals, and play key roles in both the day-to-day operations and in the strategic direction of the utility. 

The program includes training and mentoring. Graduates will attend ongoing professional development and technical trainings.

Leadership Associates are paired with mentors:

  • Mentors provide guidance and feedback, and share their knowledge about this dynamic work environment.
  • Mentors help Associates to create and expand their professional networks.
  • Mentors may also share insights about training needs and professional development opportunities.
