Continued Restoration Efforts

Crews Working Hard to Bring Power Back to Customers

Austin Energy continues to work as quickly and safely as possible to restore power. A majority of customers whose power was affected by the winter conditions last week have electricity again, and crews continue to work on the remaining outages.

You can stay up to date by following Austin Energy on Twitter and Facebook.

When Will I get power?

Working through the system and identifying issues from the severe winter weather will take time. Full restoration may take several more days.

We Have to Restore Power Carefully

As we bring circuits online, we bring them up in sections to test their ability to handle the amount of demand. This can take time and reveal other issues that need to be addressed before a full restoration, including tree limbs on lines, line fuses that need to be replaced and other equipment repairs. This requires manual work for each situation.

How You Can Help as We Restore Power

If you are currently without power, you can help us avoid overloaded circuits and additional outages when power comes back on by:

  • Turning off your thermostats.
  • Turning off light fixtures and unplugging any appliances.
  • Only leaving on one light to indicate when the power is back on.
