Remember, each power outage is a unique event. Crews on the scene must safely locate and assess the cause of the outage and communicate with other crews and the control center, often during changing weather conditions.

Safety Reminder: Austin Energy would like to remind the public to avoid downed power lines and poles. Always consider them energized and stay at least 35 feet away. Electricity can travel through the ground, fences, hoses, tree limbs, and even playscapes. Call 9-1-1 immediately if someone makes contact with a downed wire; do not try to rescue someone who makes contact with one. To report a downed power line, please call 3-1-1.
