Austinites can help neighbors in need with utility bills
December 8, 2020
This holiday season, consider donating to the City of Austin Utilities' Customer Assistance Program. The program helps customers who are unable to pay their utility bills due to unexpected emergencies.
This year, additional utility relief funding, approved by the Austin City Council in April, was available to individuals affected by COVID-19. In Fiscal Year 2020, the program distributed $7.4 million in utility bill assistance to more than 14,000 households.
Donations to CAP could help customers like Lisa F., who wrote, "Many thanks to the City of Austin Utilities Bill Help Program. It again has come at a time that I really needed the emergency help with my work situation not resuming any sign of normalcy. God bless everyone that has worked on my account."
City of Austin Utilities customers can make a one-time or recurring donation by adding it to their paper or online
utility bill or by mail. For more information, see how to help
