City of Austin Utilities Helps Customers Prepare for Winter Weather
December 2, 2025
Austin Energy, Austin Water and Austin Resource Recovery are teaming up this winter to provide customers with tools and tips through their annual emergency preparedness event. Staff with Austin Fire’s Wildfire Division and Austin Emergency Management will also be on hand to provide important emergency information.
On Wednesday, December 3, and Thursday, December 4, the City of Austin will host utility customers at its north and south Utilities Customer Service Centers. Visitors can explore hands-on demonstrations, pick up free preparedness items and get expert advice.
Emergency preparedness items include meter keys, hose bib covers, hand-crank radios, solar-powered chargers, ice scrapers, emergency kit supplies and winter readiness guides. Quantities are limited, so customers are encouraged to arrive early and get prepared for the season ahead.
