Austin Energy’s Power Partner Thermostat program boosts enrollment incentives
March 9, 2026
Austin Energy is increasing the incentives for residential customers to join its Power Partner program, which helps manage energy demand during peak periods and supports grid reliability. The program encourages residential customers to enroll eligible smart thermostats, contributing to a more resilient and affordable energy system for the community. The upgrade includes:
- A $75 enrollment incentive, increased from $50 per thermostat.
- A $30 annual recurring bill credit, up from $25.
- A $50 thermostat rebate, up from $30.
Power Partner participants allow Austin Energy to make brief thermostat adjustments during periods of peak energy demand, reducing strain on the grid and helping to lower costs for all customers. Customers retain control and can override adjustments at any time.
“Programs like Power Partner are essential for maintaining reliability and affordability as energy demand grows,” said Richard Genece, Austin Energy vice president for customer energy solutions. “Participation in these customer demand response programs help reduce grid strain at peak times, lowers the utility’s power supply costs and benefits the entire community.”
Power Partner is part of Austin Energy’s broader successful demand response strategy to manage peak demand while maintaining affordability for customers.
