Change Your Outage Alert Preferences

Add Contacts and Set Up "Do Not Disturb"

If you are registered to receive Outage Alerts, you can add multiple contacts and set a Do Not Disturb block on text updates.

  • Set Up Additional Contacts — You can add or remove as many contacts as you like to receive Outage Alerts and updates.

    Additional contacts might include:
    • Family members
    • Babysitter or child care professionals
    • Out-of-town guests
    • Medical caregivers
    • Tenants
  • Set Up Do Not Disturb — You can choose to not receive outage status texts during hours you designate. If you use the Do Not Disturb feature, you will only receive a text when power is restored.

You can change your Outage Alert preferences in one of two ways:

  1. Log in to City of Austin Utilities Online Customer Care and change your preferences under Notifications.
  2. Call 512-494-9400 to speak to a representative.

If you aren’t already a registered City of Austin Utilities user, you will first need to register your username and set up your online account.

Waiting to Start Electric Service at a New Address? 

Whether you are new to Austin Energy or transferring service to a different address, you can sign up to Get Outage Alerts after the start-of-service date.
