Get up to $500 back on a PowerPartner℠ EV eligible Level 2 home charging station

Austin Energy offers a rebate that covers 50% of the cost (up to $500) for a qualified home charging station—making it easier and more affordable to charge your EV faster at home and help the community manage energy use on days when the need is highest.

Charge at Home with a Level 2 Charging Station

  • Faster charging: Level 2 charging is much faster than a standard outlet (120V)
  • Start your day fully charged: Skip the gas station and charge overnight
  • Give back to the grid: Decrease stress on the electric system while lowering your carbon emissions

  • Eligibility Requirements

    Prerequisites

    • You must receive electricity from Austin Energy.
    • You must have purchased or leased a plug-in electric vehicle.
    • You must enroll in Power Partner℠ EV.
    • You must have a Power Partner EV compatible station; Additional EV chargers paired with a qualifying telematics-enabled vehicle are also eligible.
    • Charging station must be new and installed at applicant's address.
    • You agree to participate in Austin Energy surveys or feedback regarding Austin Energy Electric Vehicle Programs.
    • Applicants are eligible to receive one rebate per Power Partner EV enrolled electric vehicle charging system.

    Equipment Installation Requirements

    •  All participants are required to ensure that their EV charging station is installed in accordance with all applicable electrical codes and standards.
    • Charging stations and receptacles for plug-in stations must be UL, ETL or cETL listed.

    Exclusions

    • Customers must enroll in the PPEV program to receive the rebate and are eligible for one rebate per enrolled device.
  • How to Apply

    Apply for Your Rebate Online

    The Austin Energy account holder must submit the application. Please make sure you have everything you need before starting. The following information is required for your online rebate application:

    • Active Austin Energy electric customer account number
    • Charging station manufacturer/ model
    • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
    • Copy of fully paid receipt for charging station

    Tips for Applying Online

    • If you choose to submit the online rebate application, you will need to have all required information on hand before you start.
    • Enroll in the Power Partner℠ EV program.
    • You will need to complete and submit the application in a single session. You cannot save your information and start again later. Active sessions time out after one hour of inactivity.
    • You will need to scan or photograph documents and upload into the application system. The system will accept any of the following file formats:
      • Adobe Acrobat PDF (.pdf)
      • Microsoft Word Document (.doc or .docx)
      • JPEG (.jpg)
      • ZIP (.zip)
    • Check your rebate status online using the confirmation (enrollment) number you receive after the application submission. You will also need your City of Austin utility account number.

  • Find a Licensed Electrician

    We suggest checking references and getting at least three different estimates for your charging station installation. The list of Charging Station Installers below includes companies with electric vehicle charging station installation experience.

    Charging Station Installers must comply with all program requirements and conduct business in an honest, professional, and ethical manner. All qualified Charging Station Installers must abide by the Austin Energy Code of Conduct and Ethical Requirements (pdf).
