Powering up preparedness: City departments host summer readiness events this week

City of Austin Summer Pop Up eventAustin Energy, Austin Water, Austin Resource Recovery, Austin Emergency Management and other city departments are joining forces to help customers get ready for summer through emergency preparedness, efficiency and sustainability offerings.

Information, demonstrations and giveaway items will be offered at two utility customer service centers June 9-10. Quantities are limited, so please arrive early.

  • Austin Energy is offering an emergency hand crank radio.
  • Austin Water is handing out low-flow shower heads.
  • Austin Resource Recovery is providing reusable shopping bags and BPI-certified compostable bags.
  • Austin Emergency Management is sharing Neighborhood Preparedness Guides to help individuals and families make a plan before an emergency.

Community members can pick up these supplies, while they last, at City of Austin Utilities Customer Service Centers (UCSC) this week:
