Mayor Adler joins Austin Energy to wish area students good luck as they depart for international science festival in Los Angeles

On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14, Austin Mayor Steve Adler, Austin Energy Vice-President Mark Dreyfus, and representatives from Intel, Synopsys and 3M will participate in a send-off at 8:30 a.m. at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport for seven area students who have qualified for the Intel International Science and Engineering Festival in Los Angeles.  These students have already won science festival competitions at the local and state level.  Mayor Adler and Mark Dreyfus will give brief remarks to the students (and their proud moms) before they depart.

 

WHEN
Sunday, May 14, 2017, beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m., ending by 8:50 a.m.

WHERE:
ABIA, Lower Level, Baggage Carousel #3, next to the Barbara Jordan statue

VISUALS:
Students giving long-stemmed (as in STEM education) flowers to their moms

PARKING:
The event is located in baggage claim at ABIA. All media representatives should contact Aviation PIO before arriving at the airport at (512) 715-4287, so that PIO can notify airport security and note that you will be parking in the media parking area. Media may park at the upper level roadway curbside designated media parking area (drive past all airlines curbside check-in). News media must have clearly marked vehicles with media placards in dash or on the vehicle. Security may conduct random vehicle inspections. No live broadcasting from inside the terminal. Interviews and taping must not interfere with passenger traffic inside and outside the terminal.
