Interested in going solar but can't because you rent or your home is too shaded? When Austin Energy has available spaces in the Community Solar program, you can sign up to choose 100% locally-generated solar energy.
Austin Energy's Community Solar program provides residential customers access to solar energy — no installation required! Austin Energy invests in local solar projects to meet 100% of subscribers' electricity needs.

Local, Home-Grown Sunshine
Austin Energy’s Community Solar program now has three project sites:
- The Palmer Array (185 kW), located on the Palmer Events Center on Barton Springs Road, between South First and Lamar Boulevard (see satellite photo).
- La Loma community solar farm (2.6 MW) located northeast of Springdale Road and Airport Boulevard (see satellite photo).
- Austin Bergstrom International Airport (1.8 MW) located on the roof of the Blue Parking Garage (see satellite photo).
Community Solar for Residential Customers
Harness Texas solar power at smart, convenient prices. Community Solar residential customers have their Power Supply Adjustment (PSA) charges replaced by a Community Solar Adjustment (CSA) charge that is locked-in until October 2033. Market-Rate customers have a CSA of $0.04270 / kWh, while customers on the Customer Assistance Program (CAP) have a CSA of $0.0277 / kWh. Based on 1,000 kWh / month usage, a market-rate customer would have about $14 added to their monthly bill, while a CAP customer would save about $2 on their monthly bill.
