With Austin Energy's Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Program you can get valuable rebates or a low-interest loan when you make energy efficiency improvements to your home.
And now, for a limited time, you can combine rebates with a loan just by completing a list of recommended and approved energy efficiency measures. This offer is made possible through a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Standard Offer
The Standard Offer from Home Performance with ENERGY STAR gives you the option of taking advantage of valuable rebates or choosing a low-interest loan to finance needed improvements.
Rebates can cover an average of 28% or more than $2,000 of the total cost of improvements, not to mention savings each month for years to come.

Standard Loan
If cash is hard to come by and your home could really use the energy efficiency improvements, a low-interest loan could be just what you need.
You can apply for up to $15,000 to pay for needed home energy efficiency improvements. With our loan partner Velocity Credit Union, applying is easy. Loan periods can be for as long as 10 years.
In some cases, the money you save on energy costs each month can be more than your loan payment — which means money in your pocket.
We offer two Standard Loan options:
- Choose Loan Option 1 with interest rates as low as 0% when you make all of the recommended improvements, plus replace your existing air conditioner with an energy-efficient one.
- Choose Loan Option 2 with interest rates as low as 1.9% when you select the energy efficiency improvements you want from the list of recommended measures.

Advanced Offer
Rebate + Loan
Now you can have the best of both worlds — valuable rebates and a low-interest loan. With the Advanced Offer it's more affordable than ever to make needed energy efficiency improvements to your home.
Just make approved energy efficiency improvements that achieve a minimum 15% energy savings and you could receive more than $2,000 in rebates plus a 3.99% loan up to $20,000. Better still, you can pay out the loan over 10 years.

Maximum Energy Returns
If your home needs an extreme energy efficiency makeover, you can save even more money with Energy Returns.
This program is designed for homes with energy efficiency improvement needs that can deliver a 20% to 30% reduction in energy use. Energy Returns provides the enhanced rebates — plus an additional bonus rebate between $550 and $750 as well as a low-interest loan. Rebate and incentive amounts are based on the level of projected energy savings as a result of the improvements. The Energy Returns program requires additional testing before and after the energy efficiency improvements are completed.

Eligibility Requirements for the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program

The residence must receive electric service from Austin Energy, with service provided at residential rates.

Only the owners of a single-family home, condominium, town home, duplex, triplex, fourplex, or rental property are eligible.

The residence cannot be a mobile or manufactured home.
- All energy efficiency improvements must be performed by a participating Home Performance with ENERGY STAR company. All participating companies are required to provide a minimum one-year warranty on all materials and workmanship.

Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Certificate
If your home has all the improvements recommended in the energy audit, we will provide you with a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR certificate. If you sell your home, this certificate can exempt you from the City of Austin’s Environmental Conservation Audit and Disclosure (ECAD) ordinance. See the ECAD Ordinance for Single-Family Homes for details about exemptions.
