National Night Out—An Austin
Energy Tradition

Austin Energy has made National Night Out a night to remember for Austin neighborhoods for nine years. National Night Out takes place in October and is designed to promote neighborhood safety. The number of people hosting and attending local block parties has grown steadily, and for the past five out of six years Austin Energy has won first place in the electric utility category. The award criteria included the level of the utility’s involvement and the support given to local law enforcement agencies.

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for crime prevention;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community relations; and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back!

Austin Energy Supports National Night Out
As your neighbor, Austin Energy also has a role in crime prevention. Installing outdoor lighting is considered one of the easiest and most effective ways to deter crime in neighborhoods and businesses.

Our Outdoor Lighting Services for dark sidewalks, roadways and alleyways help keep your neighborhood safe. We complete almost 600 illumination requests a month.
