An informational town hall meeting was held Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at City Hall regarding Austin Energy's plans to purchase all power produced by a proposed 100 MW east Texas biomass plant. The purchase agreement would be for a 20-year period at a projected cost of $2.3 billion.
The informational meeting included presentations by Nacogdoches Power on the operational dynamics of the proposed plant and by Austin Energy General Manager Roger Duncan on the strategy behind the purchase power agreement and the cost to Austin Energy customers.
