Becoming an Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure (ECAD) Auditor
The City of Austin’s Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure (ECAD) ordinance requires that ECAD audits be performed by professionals with one of two building science certifications: Building Performance Institute (BPI) or Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET). Austin Energy will add to its ECAD Auditor List auditors who have the necessary certification and who attend an Austin Energy orientation and meet Austin Energy guidelines. Auditors must have the expertise to gather specific, quantifiable data, including:
- Duct leakage
- Insulation levels
- Air-conditioning system condition
- Solar heat gain through windows
ECAD auditors may audit single-family and multifamily properties.
